The Rev. Dr. Kayko Driedger Hesslein was the interim pastor at St. John from October 2014 until its closing. She was was born and raised in Calgary, baptized at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran and raised at Lutheran Church of the Cross. She received her B. Music (Voice) at McGill University, and then received her M. Div from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. She was ordained in the Eastern Synod of the ELCIC and served her first parish, Emmanuel Lutheran, in Toronto from 2002-2007. From there, she moved to California, where she received her PhD in Systematic Theology (with a minor in Christian and Jewish History) from the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley. She and her family moved back to Calgary in 2014. She has taught courses at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary and Church Divinity School of the Pacific, as well as at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon and Waterloo Lutheran Seminary.
